Containing up to 100 naturally occurring compounds - 12 of which are polyphenolic antioxidants - Olive Leaf Extract can boost your wellbeing.
Use of olive leaf for medicinal purposes has occurred for thousands of years, being used by ancient Egyptian and Mediterranean cultures to treat a variety of health conditions.
Fresh Is Best!

Scientific studies show that these compounds are more potent and easily bioavailable in olive leaf extracts made from fresh leaves than in reconstituted or dried leaf products. Recent research by Queensland University and Southern Cross University in Australia shows that Comvita's globally unique olive leaf extract (made from fresh leaves) contains 30 times more antioxidants than the equivalent amount of the best virgin olive oils.

Oleurpein - a well known part of Olive Leaf's goodness
Oleurpein is the most well-known and studied antixoxidannt found in olive leaf. It came to particular attention when researchers were looking at why the Mediterranean diet appeared to support heart health and the body's natural defences. As well as its antioxidant effect, some studies have shown oleuropein may have a role in promoting relaxation of the arterial walls and supporting healthy blood pressure.
Studies undertaken in Bulgaria, and also at the University of Granada have found that oleuropein (from olive leaf extract) showed it promoted better coronary dilation - or the expanding / contracting ability of arteries.

Antioxidants play a huge roll in protecting our body cells from damage. Along with scores of naturally occurring plant nutrients, the unique fresh leaf extract contains the well known antioxidant, oleuropein, together with at least 11 other phenolic antioxidants.
Packed with antioxidants
There are around 100 natural occurring compounds in a high quality olive leaf extract. Over 20 of these are powerful antioxidants. Although oleuropein is a well known one, it’s not the most powerful. The way their naturally found combinations works together (synergy) means more free radical scavenging then having the same antioxidants individually.
The top 5 most powerful antioxidants in olive leaves are:
- Hydroxytyrosol
- Diosmetin
- Caffeic acid
- Verbascoside
- Oleuropein
